MARKETING NOW UNDERWAY TO REVITALIZE BRONTE BUSINESS AREA
Submitted On 17 March, 2004 by Bronte BIA
March 17th, 2004 - Bronte, Ontario The Bronte Business Improvement Association (BIA) has hired Creative Minds Communication Company, a local strategic marketing and public relations firm, to carry out an extensive marketing initiative to revitalize the business area of Bronte. The Bronte Business Improvement Area is comprised of approximatley 200 merchants whose businesses are located north and south of Lakeshore Rd., bounded to the east by East Street and the Bronte Road Bridge to the west.
The marketing work will be the first of its kind undertaken by the merchants and will include extensive public opinion research. Residents and visitors to Oakville will be asked a variety of questions to determine shopping patterns and perceptions about Bronte.
According to Liz Behrens, Executive Director, Bronte BIA, "New businesses are constantly appearing on the scene in Bronte with the most recent addition being a sushi restaurant. We're proud to be such a distinct area where many businesses are intimate owner-operated boutiques and professional service providers."
Bronte was once a quaint fishing village but today includes some of the most unique shops and restaurants that Oakville has to offer throughout the business area. Bronte Rd. and Lakeshore Rd. are the heart of the business district. Merchants are also located south of Lakeshore Rd. on Bronte Rd., making it the only area in Oakville with shops near or in view of the harbour and Lake Ontario.
"Prior to moving ahead with various awareness-raising events, we want to find out what people think and already know about the Bronte community. Besides great walking trails in and around the harbour, the area is an interesting entertainment and shopping destination." says Margaret Mercer, Marketing Consultant for Creative Minds.
Public opinion surveys begin during March school break and continue through April with the entire revitalization continuing into 2005.
Results of the public opinion surveys will help businesses understand consumer attitudes and assist in the planning of activities and events for the area, and in creation of the new "brand".
