CONGRATULATIONS 2007-2010 BRONTE BIA BOARD OF DIRECTORS!

Submitted On 18 November, 2006 by Bronte BIA (AK)

Thank you to all those who took the time to attend the Bronte Village - West Oakville BIA AGM. If you couldn't make it out this time around, we hope we'll see you again next year and encourage you to get involved in your BIA!

The evening was filled with moments of reflection, sadness, joy, and surprise. Indeed, this AGM marked the beginning of a new era for the Bronte Village BIA. The Bronte Village BIA would like to welcome returning directors, Murray McDonald, Karen Kristoff, Laura Killip, Chris Maynard, Susan Carr, and Ralph Robinson. And a hearty congratulations to newly acclaimed board members, Rose Strong, Jenna Graveney, George Lanzon, Ann Sargent, Martha Sandilands, and Tony Matchem. We wish the 2008-2010 all the best in the term ahead.

The evening also featured a surprising donation of $1000 from the Oakville Lions Club towards the Bronte BIA Fireworks Festival! We thank them for their generous donation!

Other notable moments included a presentation by chairperson Murray McDonald measuring our results from our newly minted Strategic Plan one year later. Susan Sheppard spoke about the Bronte Butterfly project and urged the importance of continued local community support and solidarity. Outgoing board member Andrew Kicak presented on the improvements to the www.brontevillage.net website and urged businesses to continue to use the website as a prime source of updated information relevant to the local BIA and Bronte community. Also, Andrew noted the new banner advertising opportunities for businesses wishing to advertise on www.brontevillage.net (contact the BIA office for more info).

One of the bittersweet highlights of the evening was the heartfelt presentation to outgoing Executive Director Liz Behrens. After 6 years serving the best interests of the Bronte Village - West Oakville BIA, Liz Behrens will be retiring in the end of November. Her tireless service and dedication to the betterment of the Bronte Village community was appreciated and reflected in a gift presentation to Liz at the AGM.

While there is some sadness in seeing a dedicated figure of the Bronte BIA community moving on to other things, it was also a moment of anticipation and excitement as we welcomed incoming Executive Director Pat O'Reilly. After an exhaustive search, the Bronte BIA is proud to welcome Pat O'Reilly as the new Exective Director of the Bronte Village - West Oakville BIA effective November 28th.

Again, we thank everyone for attending and thanks to Twisted Fork, Country, Fare, and Domino's Pizza for providing the tasty food and treats.
