BRONTE BUTTERFLY FOUNDATION FLOAT IN OAKVILLE'S SANTA CLAUS PARADE
The Bronte Butterfly Foundation is pleased to announce that its inaugural float, "An Old Fashioned Traditional Canadian Christmas", will appear in Oakville’s Santa Claus Parade (www.oakvillesantaclausparade.ca) which takes place this Saturday, November 19 starting at 9:00 am.
With a whole lot of creativity on the part of volunteers, including Wendy Sellon and the families of some very talented young people, we are delighted to deliver our Christmas vision to children and other visitors to the parade. Gathered around the FESTIVAL FOREST tree, in period dress and singing their little hearts out, the BRONTE IDOLS will entertain with fun and favourite Christmas carols.
A big part of a traditional Christmas is the Nativity Scene and thanks to the Rosella family, the Bronte Villager and Kerby’s Towing, the Butterfly Foundation float is able to share this beautiful reproduction of a very special moment allowing everyone to reflect upon the true meaning of Christmas.
The BRONTE IDOLS sharing their talents along the parade route include Emma Smith, Daisy & Dorothy Progosh, Jordanna Saadi, Emelia Sadowski, Christa Earle, Rebecca Fernandez, Ashleigh McCarthey and Ileah Rosella. Completing the old-fashioned theme and escorting the young ladies will be our own "Oliver Twist" Philip Sheppard.
These young people have spent many hours practicing, preparing costumes with their families and helping with the float. Please show your appreciation for their efforts by singing along or applauding enthusiastically.
FESTIVAL FOREST WINTER WONDERLAND AT THE BRONTE WATERFRONT
The 2nd Annual Bronte Butterfly Foundation FESTIVAL FOREST returns to the Bronte Waterfront at the Butterfly Gazebo on Saturday, November 26.
In collaboration with the Bronte BIA’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, the FESTIVAL FOREST will be on display through January 1.
Why not venture down to Oakville’s waterfront at Bronte Harbour and take in the lights at the Butterfly Foundation FESTIVAL FOREST – evergreen trees decorated by generous businesses and organizations including Canadian Tire, The Oakville Beaver, Signs Alive, Bronte Villager and the Region of Halton without whose early support this display would not be possible.
Share in the fun and festivities of the annual TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY at the Butterfly Gazebo at 6:30 pm on Saturday, November 26. Free hot chocolate compliments of the Lions Club of Oakville. Formalities emceed by Matt Milne of WAVE 94.7FM. Santa Claus, Oakville's Town Crier and Bronte Duck will all be on hand to greet children and families, followed by Oakville’s very own talented youth – THE BRONTE IDOLS – leading everyone in celebrating a traditional Canadian Christmas singing treasured Christmas carols!
Don’t miss out on this special evening with family and friends. Join us in Bronte as we celebrate our heritage, engage our children and create cherished Christmas memories!!
Individuals and businesses who would like to participate and expand the FESTIVAL FOREST should call Susan Sheppard at 905-825-2245.
The Bronte Butterfly Foundation is a registered charitable organization with a mandate to create an interactive learning environment for children and visitors to Halton. This natural Butterfly Park & Winter Skateway will be built on the shores of Lake Ontario alongside historic Bronte Harbour in southwest Oakville. $3.5 million in land, goods, services and cash has been committed to-date to support and develop this initiative. We are now on the last leg of the capital campaign to raise $2.5 million for the infrastructure to build this $6 million community initiative in 2006. We look forward to your support of this campaign and of the events that will ensure the timely completion of the Butterfly Park & Winter Skateway.
