SPECIAL MESSAGE: CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT FROM THE BIA AGM

Submitted On 16 November, 2005 by Bronte BIA (AK)

For all of you who could not make the meeting - It was well attended and there were four great speakers - Carol Thompson of Ace Laminates, Wendy Clayton, our Village Constable. Andrew Kicak explained our new Bronte Web-site - please contact him if you have not done so - and Julianna Wall from Birchgrove Developments regarding the Bronte Quadrangle Development.

The latest Bronte Villager is out and there are postcards available to the merchants, to hand out to your customers, advertising your delightful November 26th Christmas Tree Lighting festivities.

Thank you, everyone. Have a super, successful Christmas Season !!

BRONTE VILLAGE BIA --- CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT --- ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING --- NOVEMBER 15, 2005

This has been a busy year for the Bronte Village BIA. We have had several very successful events with Canada Day being our biggest success. Each and every event, however, had its own charm.

Our final event, a favourite, the annual Christmas Tree Lighting, is held together with the Butterfly Foundation, Festival Forest. It will be held next Saturday, November 26th at 6:30pm in the park at the Gazebo.

The Bronte Idols will lead our singing and Santa will be there to help celebrate the beginning of this special season. Let those beautiful Christmas trees twinkle with delight – and may the weather be wonderful !!

This year the Bronte merchants have joined together and created a day that will be special for everyone, from 12 - 4pm November 26th, with Open Houses, Santa and his elves, window decorating, wagon rides, carolers, and much more - that will continue through until Christmas and, we hope, throughout next year. Thank you, everyone!

This year, we have had top performers grace our stage. The Bronte Idols’ Contest is in its second year and getting larger each year.

As the BIA is a Not-for Profit organization, we are more than grateful to our sponsors who are helping to raise the quality and excitement of our events. Tonight’s food has all been sponsored and so has the hall! A special thank you to Prudential Town Homes Realty and Mattamy Homes who have been so very generous with sponsorship dollars and creative energy !!

As sponsorship grows, so will each event we host. Consider being a sponsor !!!

We love the participation of the multi-talented merchants in Bronte and look forward, with excited anticipation, to an ever increasing partnership with each and every business.

The Bronte businesses are the BIA – we, the BIA Board of Directors, are the facilitators.

Speaking of facilitators, a special thank you goes to Liz Behrens, our Bronte BIA Executive Director, for the amazing job she does, bringing together the nuts and bolts of these events!! We could not put them on without the Town of Oakville support – or Oakville Hydro, the police, the Parks and Recreation Department, the Vendors, the performing artists, the stage and amplification crews, our BIA Board of Directors, our Special Events Committee, our Bronte Businesses – this list goes on and on – but someone must orchestrate the events – and this job goes to Liz. Thank you, Liz for your unlimited patience and enthusiasm and organizing abilities.

Kerry Salari, owner of the Mixed Grill Restaurant and Catering, is another person who deserves a very special thank you tonight. Kerry served on the BIA Board of Directors for years, and spent three of those years as Chairman and two as Past Chairman. She is always involved, and continues to be, although she has retired from the BIA Board to help Bronte on other Committees. She is an asset to the Bronte Community.

This fall, she and Tim Caplan, hosted a very successful Golf Tournament, in the pouring rain, an event that, in excess of 80 people attended, with the proceeds of $1000.00 going to the BIA to help with the Canada Day expenses.

We miss her and wish her every success as she moves forward with her passions for Bronte.

Thank you, Kerry, for your ongoing help and support.

Another exciting development this year, thanks to Andrew Kicak of Laura Paladino Invitation Design, a new member of the BIA Board of Directors, is the creation of a new and wonderful Bronte BIA Web-site. This will be launched tonight.

This web-site will feature Bronte businesses, will have our Special Events available to all and we will be able to add and change the site to keep it current and inviting. This will be a huge bonus to our businesses and hopefully keep customers and visitors coming to Bronte, West Oakville, on a very regular basis !!

Thank you for attending tonight’s meeting. Thank you to all of our guests and speakers. The Bronte BIA Board of Directors wants the Bronte BIA Membership to be informed and successful !!

Sincerely,
Janet Bedford, Chairperson
Bronte Village BIA
